This might be a question for your OB/GYN or Stephenie Meyer

Dear Stephenie Meyer-

You should really stop going to Yahoo Answers to get your story lines. I mean where else could you come up with a story about a fetus that drinks its mothers blood and grows at light speed? Not to mention the father is a Vampire who had sex with its human mom!

Kids these days are whacky enough to post personal questions about their girlfriends pregnancy in a public forum not thinking some suburban housewife is trolling the web just looking for an absurd twist for the fourth and final installment of her multimillion dollar, New York Times Best Selling Novels. She must have seen this and went “THAT’S IT!” If only we could have warned this poor dude to call a doctor instead of ask some random people in the interwebs maybe he could have spared us all a little Renseesme and a lot of explaining to Breaking Dawn newbies.

Darn kids.

  1. Ah, so THIS explains the rush-to-print plot. *ducks to avoid shrapnel*
I love Twilight, but I had to say it. BD got sci-fi in a way that obviously could have only been inspired by trailer park horror stories.
(even though she claims to have planned that ending from the very start) Nice investigation, Moon!

    • i hate breaking dawn..i had to force myself to finish..litrally, forced myself..

      • I. Did. Too.

I thought I was only the only one! I made it about 1/4 of the way thru the Jacob book-y part, then I was like….meh….she’ll splode and Eddie will save her via vampire-ism. I was right….just not about the deets.

    • it’s uh QUITE the storyline… not my fave book in the saga by a mile.

  2. Yahoo answers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Joss Whedon…whatever the impetus, I’m love her for writing the books. (Even though she says she’s never seen an ep of Buffy…ok, Steph, I believe that. Sure. Right.)

    • ive also heard some comparisons to roswell and i can totally see them now. i used to watch roswell religiously… whatever her inspiration i still ❤ smeyers!

  3. ome I don’t know what is more frightening ….the fact someone asked that..or that you went and found it lol

    I LOL’d out loud…

  4. …was this for REAL??? LOL

  5. I have no other words except “lmfao” even though that’s not a word. It’s a word today because I made it a word. That definitely was the best answer too; I’ll hope for the sake of humanity that he was bored. *fingers crossed*

  6. Wow, Ok. People are whacked. On another note…

Ok, I have to address this. It might have been when I was reading Eclipse or right when I started BD, BEFORE the scene where she realizes she’s pregnant. How the EF did SM not address the whole period issue?! I couldn’t believe I hadn’t thought of that until that point. If Bella’s a normal girl, then she’d be getting it every month for almost a week. She’s with Edward ALL THE TIME. How did he deal with that? Especially in the beginning, before he said her scent didn’t bother him anymore and he’s like, “I got over it.” Srsly, someone tell me they were wondering this, too.

    • LTT did a blog on this exact issue a few weeks ago. I’ll see if I can find the link for you.

AND, yes, we all have our own theories on this very topic!

    • that’s when we found this yahoo answer! we were googling that very question!

    • she did address that, but not in the books.
It’s in one of her q&a s on her website, and she said that
      1) edward is too much of a gentleman, so he would never say something about that
      2) bella would be too embarassed
      3) because it’s “dead” blood, it wouldn’t be as tempting as, e.g., the blood running straight beneath her skin.

      answer given 😉

      • Thanx!

I was going to check there next, but hadn’t gotten around to it yet (and can’t check her site at work). I’ll have to go read more of the Q&A’s so I’m not asking questions that have already been answered! 😛

      • hm.
I just searched the website for he exact answer … I didn’t find it there, but I found this tidbit:
(stephenie was asked how she came up with the pregnancy stuff)

“The first seed (no pun intended) was planted when I did Bella’s computer research in chapter seven of Twilight. Bella reads about several real vampire legends—the Danag, Estrie, Upier, etc. In the novel, I only mentioned a few of the many legends I read through. One that I didn’t mention at this point was the entry on the Incubus. The unique feature about that legend was that the incubus could father children. Hmmm, I said, and I filed that kernel of an idea away for later. When I decided to write the first sequel to Twilight (Forever Dawn), I knew it was going to revolve around a hybrid baby from the outset.”

and the answer to the period stuff I think I must have found at the twilight lexicon, but that’s like, mountains of pages, so I won’t sift through all of that ^^

        • Noooooo. Found it.

“Several girls wanted to know if Edward would have a more difficult time being around Bella when she’s having her period. Answer: Yes, a little bit, but he would never say anything about it–much too much of a gentleman. And Bella would be way to embarrassed to ask. (It’s not the same as a cut, though. It’s sort of “dead” blood, if you get my meaning).”

Pffft. that was comment 3 on my behalf here.

      • “dead blood” i just threw up.

    • i thought that from the very beginning of twilight. so weird. i think people have asked smeyer at book readings. we should find out what she says

  7. Mint chocolate coverd oreos do not feel great when laughing and in your nostrils.. thanks again ladies for making me laugh at work.. And boy oh boy is it hard to explain to people why I laugh out loud for so long with no explanation.

  8. you’re a genius!

  9. Makes perfect sense now. Thanks!

  10. omfg! this was hilarious and disturbing..

..boss just came in and gave me a worried look cuz i LOL’d..

moving on.. i really, really, REALLY hope he’s joking otherwise we’re doomed!!

  11. I won’t ask how you found this, but I think what would be more hilarious is reading the answers people may have posted as answers to this question. And then, which one the asker decided was the best answer.

  12. what an idiot. i can’t believe some people are so stupid but looking at this person’s grammar i am not surprised.

  13. i think my love for stephenie meyer and edward made the accept the whole creepy renesmee/blood/breaking out of bella’s uterus story-line.

i never questioned it.. i just said..’okay…. whatever… bella & edward got it on.. it’s all good for me”

    • Haha, diddo. 🙂

    • Glad I’m not the only one blindly accepting (and loving) whatever stephanie meyer puts out there. I was actually annoyed that my husband made me explain the whole half vampire baby “birth” scene several times b/c he didn’t get it and refuses to read the book.

  14. Oh. My. Effing. Gawd!!! I am almost offended that people this dumb are procreating. I can only hope that he was joking. But I doubt it.

Oh, and when I read this I said very, very loudly ‘you have to be fucking joking!!’ My boss thought I was talking about an email she had just sent me. Sigh. You guys get me in trouble a lot at work but it’s worth it!

  15. THIS is why we need Sex Ed in the schools, people! Good Lord.

As for the BD plot, I didn’t question it, either. But I think it is because I was a latecomer to all things Twilight, and so rather than waiting for that book to come out, I spent a Lost Weekend in The Meyer, reading all 4 books back to back, then going back and reading NM again, because it was my favorite.

I was just so -ahem- ‘sucked in’ to the whole story, I never questioned anything. Hook, line and sinker. Even when my husband almost fell out of his chair laughing when he asked me what my book was about (Iit was Eclipse) and I said that the Vampires and the Werewolves were about to have a brawl.

And I wondered about the period issue from the get-go! And then thought I was weird for thinking about it at all. I think SM explains it slightly on her website.

    • amen and amen. sex ed does a jr higher good! everyone needs to be traumatized by that STD slide show like i was! wrap that shiz up kids or just dont do it at all!

      • Sex Ed does do a jr higher good! Except when your mom is the jr high sex ed teacher. Then it is just humiliating. Trust me, I know.

  16. Ok, is this guy the 15 year old in the UK that has a kid? I mean really…is that what kids are taught? Srsly! Their Health teacher should be fired!!!

I liked BD. It was one of my favorite books because of the storyline. Oh well, I shall stand alone.

    • You are not alone. BD was my fave (next to Twilight of course).

And I’m thinking this kid might have read the books and thought it was funny to post and see what answers he could get in return.

  17. Yeah, I just about died laughing. Thank you SO much for sharing this!

I think you two should find this guy and explain to him that “That’s normal!”. 🙂

    • Yeah. Someone post that if it were drinking her blood, it would have burst out of her belly MONTHS ago. No worries.

  18. TOO MUCH TWILIGHT…or Breaking Dawn, whichever. WTF!? Good Lordy! WTF!?
    LMAO…What The Hell…!? >.<
…And there can NEVER be too much Twilight Saga. My bad XD
    xoxo Alexx

  19. Seriously YahooKid?! Seriously!?! I’m so embarrassed for him!
I found reading BD like watching one of those badly acted, exceptionally hokey SciFi Channel TV movies that airs between 3 and 5am.

  20. “she 6 month pregnant”

wow. just wow. i can’t even speak right now. this post might (and by “might” i mean “probably will”) disturb me for the rest of the day, lol

  21. Wheww… thank goodness this kid asked this question! one more i won’t have to ask the gyno when get knocked up. now i’ll know it’s normal!

@moon… i used to watch roswell religiously… i’d say it was my last “real” obsession in the flim/tv industry before twilight. loved it.

as for Breaking Dawn, all i could think was … SUREEEE Stephanie Meyer, you can’t give me just a little more sex but you can go into Gory, equally R-rated detail about vampbaby having. Grrr..

    • Sex vs R-rated Gore! LOL! I never thought of it that way!

Don’t worry. When I write my vampire book I’ll write more sex in just for my LTT/LTR friends.

Now can we please be 2nd Hand Embarrassed for this guy?

  22. I like how he says his girlfriend got “pregnant AND ALL.” Yeah, bummer, guess that means there’s going to be a kid AND STUFF that he’s going to have to deal with for the rest of his life!

As for Breaking Dawn, I blindly accepted whatever shiz Smeyer threw in there. I liked how a lot of it was like a happily ever after story after Bella becomes a vampire and she’s awesome at everything. I also liked how when she became preggers, she was finally passionate about something other than Edward.

I still don’t feel like she became completely self-confident, though, even though she became gorgeous, had Edward, Renesmee, the Cullens, Charlie, her superpowers, and basically saved everyone with her mind bubble thing! On one of the very last pages, Edward says to her something like you still don’t get it, Bella, how amazing you are, do you? I did love when she finally let him see inside her mind, though, that brought a little tear to my eye. Nice touch, Smeyer 🙂

    • seriously i want to read Bdawn again RIGHT Now just for that scene @ the end + isle esme.. altho i’ve read HOT isle esme fan fic and i just might be dissapointed w/ the real thing…

  23. I have a major urge to go answer that question with one word: YES. Then sign my name with an “M.D.” after it.

  24. I’m a bit late to the party for this post, but I have a severe case of insomnia tonight and am obviously going through the posts I haven’t seen before.. And ladies, this one is a real gem in your collection!

Actually, I’m intrigued that this issue wasn’t used as a source material for more posts (or maybe I should keep scrolling for more posts I haven’t seen – if that’s the case, I apologize) because, as I already said, the whole Twilight saga is such a pinata, but…but… BD is an actual Pandora’s Box!! Oh so much potential in that one..

Now, the first 3, although flawed, hold a special place in my heart.. But this one.. Oh.. It’s banned from my mental and emotional library, and can only be activated if referred to as it is in this post.. So my point is, my wonderful LTT gals, you just found my G-spot (or should I say T-spot) with this one..
    It’s normal, right? 🙂
